Waterford Ontario is a matured community, having been founded in 1794. It was originally established as a saw-mill community. In 1826 the town became officially named Waterford, and became incorporated in 1878.
Waterford is flanked by agricultural lands and is close to the famous Waterford Ponds. Its local high school is called Waterford District High and its rugby team is considered to be the strongest team in the NSAA boys’ rugby league.
